July 6, 2015 Technopreneurship 1 Meeting

What I like:
The second meeting last July 6, 2015 is quite memorable for me because I was a bit late in the class of Mr. Gamboa’s Technopreneurship subject, it was actually started at exactly 8:00am in the morning and it was a total dilemma for me and also to my classmates in programming 3 because it has the same time of class with technopreneurship.  We were shock from the first meeting that we will be having the second meeting on Monday; we were bit in stressed on what to choose first.  So as our final decision, we follow our heart beats which is to go first in our Programming 3 class subject because there will be an online quiz worth fifteen points and it will be our second quiz for the Prelim stage of the subject.  After we finish the online quiz, we hurry running to the door of Computer Laboratory 1 where our Technopreneurship 1 was held.  We admit that we were a bit afraid to go inside the class because our facilitator Mr. Gamboa has already started the class and as we check the time, we were thirty-five minutes late in his class.  I and my classmates have in mind that we must prepare some performance because it is a protocol in our facilitator that if we are going to be late in his subject class then we must perform individually, to sing or to dance.  So I go in first then followed by y classmates, we go straight at the back seats because the front seats were all occupied already and then we sat for a moment only.  Our hearts is pounding because Mr. Gamboa was staring to us but we were prepared to do some crazy things in front, luckily Mr. Gamboa just asked us the question “are you one of the students who have their online quiz at the computer laboratory 2?” Of course we felt saved because he did not let us perform, I guess he was informed by our mayors that we have the quiz so he made an exception.  It was so funny to hear every time Mr. Gamboa will asked “who were still virgins in his class?” because it is some kind grin to hear but we understand or know what he is referring to which is who is those persons or students who is first timers under his class.  Mr. Gamboa is conducting this kind of activity which is to perform in front of the class so that we his students can build our confidence; Mr. Gamboa believes that this can help us to pitch our ideas without any fear in front of the big professionals or businessmen.  We his students cooperate to this kind of activity because we know in our seves that we must build our self-confidence because it is a big or a great weapon when it comes to presenting our ideas in technopreneurship contests.  Due to we were late on his class, we dealt with the consequence which is we don’t know what he discussed earlier in the class.  As the class go along, there are still a lot of students who were coming on his class and most of them were girls, so a true gentleman, I and my classmate Marijune, we offered out chairs to those girls which make us happy to see theme seat properly and listen to the discussion of our facilitator, but the trade off there is, all along the class lecture of Mr. Gamboa, I and Marijune where standing at the back seats.  But still we do our very best to listen on the important lecture of Mr. Gamboa about technopreneurship history and the factors that we must possess to be one or become one of the best successful technopreneurs or big successful businessman at the future.  So as I recall the first thing that I hear on the lecture is about Mr. Gamboa’s confession that he is not quite that good when it comes to coding but he knows fort-run programming which mades me say  awesome because I really thought that he was more focus on teach all about technopreneurship.  He said that he does not know object-oriented programming which is the trend type of coding nowadays like the C++, java, PHP, etc.  Mr. Gamboa told us the he will teach us on how persuade investors when it comes to pitching our ideas to them.  He stated that we must master the art of “Elevator Talk” because it can turn our lives to success or our door ways to success.  He stated that we must learn to persuade investors that our ideas were all good in just a matter of time specifically a minute or two.  If we master this kind of ability then we can be more effective when it come to pitching, it is what Mr. Gamboa told us on his class.
Mr. Gamboa told us the history of technoprenurship in Davao City, together with his colleagues thinks of a place where technopreneurship will spread easily and a lot can join, so of course as they plan, they choose the universities.  We also learned that Mr. Gamboa and hie colleagues where having struggles during their starting days in introducing technopreneurship here in Davao City because some principal or Deans of colleges were not that interested on this new kind of education that talks about technology mixing to business.  But as we can observe now, technopreneurship is on its way to fame in every place of the Philippines.  Behind all the struggles in life, there is always something that will help us succeed in life, which is what I learned from Mr. Gamboa’s life in technopreneurship.
As I recall our lectures, Mr. Gamboa asked us the question “do you know what is an ecosystem?” of course all of us inside that room understand the concept of ecosystem but the follow up of Mr. Gamboa excites memore, it is about the “Ecosystem of  Technopreneurship”.  On biological aspect of the forest for example, ecosystem talks about the environment or the process of synchronized process happening in the whole earth.  But of course, the ecosystem that Mr. Gamboa is talking about is a different aspect because it will be tackling about the technopreneurship.  In the Technopreneurship ecosystem, there are many components that we should consider. It is called HELF. HELF simply means H for human resources, E for environment, L for Laws and Policies and lastly, F which stands for Financial resources which is very essential for a technopreneur.  These four factors were important in building our own kind of technoprenuership business at the future.  We must study this first so that we will not or should I say prevent any kind of failures in our plans or in our business.  So Mr. Gamboa have made a very clear explaination on this four factors in technopreneursihp world.  The Human resources are a very important component in the technopreneurship ecosystem because every technopreneur needs a way in which he or she could propose his or her product, how he or she could finance the start-up or a company, the researchers and developers are also very essential. So human resources are one of the important components in a technopreneur ecosystem.  It is a very simple concept of business that if we will have at the future a big company then we will need a lot of workers defending on the scale of production in your company.   The next factor is the “Environment”, well I guess that this is the key to make new ideas that will surely hit the market.  It is in our environment wherein we can see problems, for example in our communities, we technoprenuers should open our eyes and mind in finding problems inside the community because throught that, we technopreneurs could have the opportunity to male new ideas the will improve the meaning of life or the quality of every persons lives. The next factor is the “Law” and “policies”.  Of course every individual who deals with making business not only the technoprenuers should abide in the law when making any product.  We technopreneurs must make sure that we are making any kind of products that suits to the standards of the law and policies. We must ensure to the public that we are selling only good products.  Then the last factor in the ecosystem of Technopreneuurship is the “Financial Resources”. The financial resources are one of the most important components in Technopreneurship because money is needed when it comes building our business in technopreneurship.  Mr. Gamboa told us that there are people who were brand as “angels” who are willing to finance our ideas to become realities, the VC of the Venture Capitalist.  I am gald to know that there are groups of individual who are willing to support aspiring technoprenuers.  Though our facilitator Mr. Gamboa told us that all we need is to think of a great idea and then propose it to the investors then we will be good if it will be accepted because the investors will fund the project but we can’t deny the fact the we still need money for any other expenses that we will encounter along the journey of technopreneurship, this is the truth happening and this also applies to any other individuals who are making their ways to the top of success.
Along the lecture of Mr. Gamboa, I realized that I still have a lot of things to know in this world of technoprenuership.  Technopreneurship can make a difference in my life as well as to the lives of my classmate who also takes this subject under the guidance of Mr. Gamboa.  Our facilitator always emphasize the results of default mind set of every parents sending their child to school so that someday they will find a good job and be an employee forever and ever in the rest of their lives.  The default mind set of parents is like that but our facilitator wants us to break that default mind set the holding us back to meet success in life.  If we are going to practice and will never leave the default mind set then there will be no improvements in our lives, it is a common fact happening in the majority of Pilipino family.  Our facilitator always make example the mother who is working in Japan working in a place where in the lights are turning on and off or to be more specific, in a hostess bar dancing there all night just to have a money to send to his family left in the Philippines and provide the needs of his or her daughters study.  He added that the default mind set there might be the next the dancer who will follow the mother’s work is her daughter which made us all laugh.  Well if we extract his simple example about the default mind set, I can really say that this type of scenario is really happening especially in our country.  There are a lot of people in our country which choose dirty works rather than thinking of a way or planning steps on how they can lift up their life status without risking their own lives in other foreign land.  Just like what our facilitator said that if we will get sick in other foreign land then there will be no one there will take care of us.  What Mr. Gamboa was trying to teach us is the beauty of “Alternative Mind Set”.  Obviously it is the opposite of the default mind set the I have shared in the top, the alternative mind set suggest the instead of flying abroad to make fortune, why not stay in your mother land and then do anything to make your mother land improve.  Technopreneurship does not talk only to the success of the one who is proposing ideas and then will meet success, no, this will also give opportunity also to others who does not have a job.  We technopreneurs does not only make us succeed in life but also we could help a lot of people because while we make ideas, we are also giving opportunities to those jobless persons.  It is a wonderful cycle of the alternative mind set, the most beautiful part is you have the chance to pay back to where you really start; we could help Davao City improve more at the future through practicing the alternative mind set.
Along the lecture of our facilitator, Mr. Gamboa put the movie the “3 Idiots” as an example of a mind blowing or mind set changing movie.  I believe that majority of the people have watched the movie, well we all know how the main characters change the way of the school processes in terms of dead lines or anything that pressures the students.  A lot of things have change inside the engineering school which also teaches them to think always outside the box.  We technoprenuers could learn a lot from the movie 3 Idiots that could help us build our skills.  Our facilitator has also tackled the two most brilliant minds in technological world who is Mr. Steve Jobs and Mr. Bill Gates who is the richest individual in the world now.  Well we all know the story of the movie “The Pirates of the Silicon Valley”.  We know how the late Mr. Steve Jobs have been fooled by Mr. Bill Gates actions so that he could overtake the fame of the Apple & Macintosh Company and introduce the “Microsoft Windows” which is a copy from the structure of the Apple’s iOS. But the point there is their genius minds in terms of technopreneurship world.  We all know that the late Mr. Steve Jobs is not that very good in terms of programming or building a device but what he has is the ideas that no one could think like he did.  We know how Mr. Bill Gates works but the point there is how he make plans that will surely bring success on his life.  Every technoprenuers in the whole world are challenge to surpass the achievements of these two technoprenuer tycoons, I am also one of the challenged people who is willing to take the risk to overcome poverty and meet success through technopreneurship.
We technopreneurs should not let our ideas become wasted or copied by others who is always ready to take over our ideas.  One thing that Mr. Gamboa teaches us is to make sure that our ideas must become registered so that we could prevent future problems like plagiarism.  There are a lot of offices all over the country which are responsible in registering our ideas and gives or provide the license so that the products that came from the ideas to be commercialize in the market.  Our facilitator gives us a task which is to think of solid ideas that we can use to propose it at the future technoprenuership competitions which I find it hard at first but I getting used to it by now.  Our facilitator has made clear the instruction that we must think of an idea that has a big impact or the most important thing is the value proposition.  It is not enough to just think of an idea, what is important is to think of an idea to make meaning in people’s lives just like what Mr. Guy Kawasaki has said on his video clip.

What I like least:
In our second meeting last July 6, 2015 at the computer laboratory 2, there are things or a topic that made me least like because I admit that I have learned a lot from that lecture and discussion by our facilitator Mr. Gamboa and a lot of things there that was discuss that opened my eyes to the reality happening in our country Philippines.  Well first I want to spoke out my observation in the class room or in the computer laboratory. The scarcity of space inside the computer laboratory which made some other student suffer, some will seat but there will be always some others that will stand along the 3 hours lecture due to out of space facility if the whole 50 plus students will enter, it made the computer laboratory not conducive for learning anymore because the students who were standing can’t focus anymore on listening much because they were tired of standing..  Well, I can’t blame anyone from this observation because I also don’t like to be the source of issue inside the college but I guess and believe that the Dean or the staffs know the struggles of the students.  I believe that our facilitator also does not like to be there because the air conditioning device can’t handle the number of student which is like sardines inside the computer laboratories.  As what Mr. Gamboa have said, “We are facing a Jurassic type computers” inside the computer laboratories of our college (Institute of Computing) but that does not matter because what is important is the students who has the will to learn and survive college in the famous Institute of Computing.  Well I should stop complaining about the facilities, I will just focus now on the things that I least like in our lecture last July 6, 2015 meeting in technopreneurship.
Our facilitator tackled the gross income of every country here in Southeast Asia, including Japan, China, Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand and Philippines.  Our facilitator showed us the GNP or the annual national income of every country listed there in the chart or on his power point presentation.  So commonly, China has the highest income because of the man power and their way of living which is the concept of communism.  The Chinese men were also so disciplined when it comes to business; they were so stiff when it comes to spending money so that they can prevent any bankruptcy at the future of their business.  We know that the number of population in China are bigger that the number covered by their country, so they managed to have the one-child policy but still they have a large scale or have a lot of people causing to have more man power.  As we can see now  or observed in every market, the products there if we will observed where it was made, we can see that there are always a trade mark that it is “Made in China”.  It seems like the joke is true which is “God made the heavens and the Earth, and the rest is in China” well this is a fact, and in this reason, the China now became one of the most powerful countries.  In the country of Japan, well we all know how powerful they are in terms of high technology; they were one of the countries which is producing a massive number of technological products every year.  Their number of population is quite big or large but of course their national gross income every year is double in their number of population.  The size of Japan is not that big, we all know that their country starts from small also, the beauty of their strategy in gaining what they have now is they start building their foundation.  They harden their foundation first and what a beautiful result they are experiencing now.  Aside from technological products that they bring in the market; they were also one of the most beautiful countries when it comes to tourism, every year a lot of tourist book their flights straight to Japan.  Lots of people loving the country Japan because it has rich culture.  Also a lot of Filipino Overseas Filipino Workers have their jobs there for almost years or decades.  Japan has a rapid growth in terms of economy and wealth due to they have disciplined their selves and also the right leadership in their country.  Well Thailand is just quite the same as Indonesia but of course their national gross income every year is consistent and can sustain properly their national budgets.  They were just the same as Indonesia I guess, in terms of number of population.  Both of these two countries were too rich in culture which made them also sustain their economy at the average rate.  At the bottom of these countries that our facilitator have lectured to us last July 6, 2015 meeting, the Philippines has been consistent to be at the bottom of the list in terms of national gross income.  Well, if we observe or study how the things happened why the Philippines is struggling in terms of economy, we can see that we don’t have proper strengthening of our core foundations specifically in building first or strengthening first what we have and make it as a weapon to fight poverty that we are suffering now.  In our Filipino history, a lot of Filipino were trying all their best or everything just to go abroad and make a good fortune there to sustain the needs of their family.  A lot of Overseas Filipino workers have graduated from different bachelor courses like doctors, nurses, etc but still they choose to withdraw what they have studied in the university and have a low level job in a foreign land.  But we can’t blame them all; we all know what kind of life we have here in the Philippines.  If we look at the past or history, Philippines has been one of the top countries which is importing rice in different parts of Asia like Thailand, Indonesia and many more.  But now that is just all in the past, and the worst is we are now one of the countries which is buying rice from other countries, not also that, we are also buying other goods from other countries.  If we look at our products here in Philippines, we are so famous when it comes to the production of abaca plant.  We have a lot of products that we could produce from the abaca plant just like basket, ropes, bags and many more that could be commercialized in the market.  It is one of the products that the Philippines could give to the market, great viable products.  I can say that due to lack of strong foundation and a lots of corruption are the reasons why the Philippines has been erase in the list of powerful countries in terms of production in rice plants and other goods that could be exported from the other countries.  During the reign of President Marcos, we have the same money quality like the American people, dollars! We have cheap prices of food during his time but of course the trade off is his policy all over the country which is the Marshall Law.  A lot of people were complaining during his reign but also there are still some people who like the economy status of the country during President Marcos time.  A lot of corruption happening in our country in this very moment, I am glad that there were already criminals and corrupt people were in-prison now in due to their faulty actions.  It is so sad to realize that we are not improving, we are still buried in the hands of poverty, one of the reasons why a lot of fresh graduates being in a hurry to find job slots in a foreign land.  Fresh graduates grab every opportunity that they could get so that they can give money to their parents.  Some of them graduated as a doctor but they grab the job of being a domestic helper.  It is sad to realize that only few people in our country (specifically the corrupt politicians and powerful people) were receiving all the money, and the poor are still so poor, no life improvement.  Well we can’t blame the investors that they will not invest easily here in the Philippines especially in Mindanao.  We all know how Mindanao becomes a war zone for decades.  There are so many rebels that threaten the investors to come here in Davao City because they are afraid that their life will be in danger if they will come here in Mindanao.  It is sad that it become the default mind set of investors from other countries.  But we are thankful that we have a powerful mayor that has changed the perspectives of investors here in Mindanao most especially here in Davao City which is the center of economy and industry here in Mindanao.  Thanks to our beloved Mayor Rodrigo Roa Duterte.
Our facilitator Mr. Gaamboa emphasize the importance of alternative mind set, that we have to spread this type of mind set so that everyone in our country will improve their status of life.  The alternative mind set suggests that we must help back or pay back where we came from.  During Mr. Gamboa’s lecture, he made as an example one of his past student in information technology which is now an overseas Filipino worker in the country of Japan that she was too eager to go abroad.  Mr. Gamboa is advising her that she must have to pay back to where she came from, Davao City.  The most common scenario happening in our country now is, a lot of graduates were studying so hard to go abroad, find a fortune and help their family.  There is no wrong but there is a big problem that Mr. Gamboa told us from that kind of scenario.  Yes those graduates were helping their family sustain the needs but they are not helping their own country.  Mr. Gamboa added that it would be nice that those graduate would start first here in Davao City.  They should have thought of ways on how to help Davao City first.  They could have been one of the pioneering technopreneurs here in the Philippines if they just listen to the advises of Mr. Gamboa.  Mr. Gamboa added that he still have contact with her former student and keep on reminding on her student that she still have a debt to be pay in the city of Davao.  It would be happier if she will start business here in Davao City.  Technoprenuership could transform not only the life of the one who proposes the idea but also those people that will become the employees during the mass production of the products or devices.  In every successful technopreneurs, they will need a lot of talented workers or employees, smart peoples and hard-working people.  We all know how the Filipino workers perform their every task; it comes with great hard work.  That is why we are very famous in every country in terms of work performance.  So if those technopreneurs will start building or create new works here in the Philippines then a lot of Filipino who is jobless will get enough works and can sustain their family needs.  I am so glad that I am close enough to finish this five thousand words reflection in our second meeting in technopreneurship subject.  We can make changes in this country or in any other country if we start engaging in technopreneurship.
I want to recognize the hard work of our technopreneurship 1 facilitator Mr. Gamboa for doing his best to expand the technopreneurship all over the country starting here in Davao City.  He wants Davao City to become the center of technopreneurship here in Davao City.  I want to recognize all of his sacrifices to build a good foundation of technopreuership here in Davao City.   As he told his journey in spreading the good news of technopreneurship I was inspired.  I said to myself that I must listen to this man (Mr. Gamboa) because everything he is lecturing or teaching always talks about money, how to make money and how to help other people.  It is a wonderful example, a model to those students who wants to rise from poverty and help other people.  I admit that I have learned a lot of things in every meeting that we have in Technoprenuership 1.
Along the lecture, Mr. Gamboa asked us a question, “How will you evaluate yourself as a technopreneur?”  I was a bit ashamed of myself because I know that I still have a lot of suck-up ideas but I am willing to take the challenge of technopreneurship which is to produce unique or fresh ideas that could improve the quality of life.  I have learned to take risk so I don’t have any reason to turn back now.  I want to recognize how our facilitator Mr. Gamboa salutes as for being a risk-takers because he said that from the moment we enrolled in this course which is Bachelor of Science in Information Technology, we are already a risk-takers because the challenge in this course is in a high level.  Well it is too late for me to realized that but I have no regrets enrolling in this course because I know that this will help a lot at the future, the future of augmented reality.
After all the lectures and discussion, I have learned that whatever mind set we have whether the default mind set or the alternative mind set, it will always defend on the mind of the person on what path he will choose.  Because we don’t know what will happen at the future, there are a lot of factors that could change the mind of a student especially nowadays that there are a lot of temptations that could easily turn the minds of the youth into nuts and dumb.  But now that I have enrolled in technoprenuership and will learn everything about it, I want to follow the path of Mr. Gamboa took which is to help his family and other people I simply want to continue his legacy.  I know that along the way there will be a lot of obstacles and problems because there will be standards that we need to follow on producing good products so I am making myself ready for that.  There is no turning back now, I must never surrender.  This is for my family and for the people of the republic of the Philippines.  I want to become one of the successful technoprenuership someday, and will make jobs for all the people of Davao City, I will make sure that this will be not just a dream, I will do it with the help of our Lord God Almighty.  I want to thank our facilitator Mr. Gamboa for everything especially for introducing us in the world of technopreneurship.

My Expectation to the Flight

My Expectation on my first flight

The upcoming Field trip Seminar to be held at the Manila on the 7th day to the 11th day of September makes me chills and truly excited because above all of the activities that we will do there during the seminars, it will be my first time to take on a plane flight.  Honestly, I don’t know what to expect on that first flight of mine because I don’t really have idea at all on what is the environment there inside the plane.  I have watched a lot of movies with many plane flight scenes and wish someday that I would ride one.  And here I am now, preparing myself to a new ground, the skies.
For the upcoming flight this September, one of my expectations is there will be a lot of new things that I will learn.  I may learn how the stewardess communicate and serve their plane passengers.  I also expect that they are all beautiful like what I am seeing in the James Bond movies.  I also expect that there will be a good accommodation of plane passenger, which they are ready to whatever might happen along the flight trip.  I admit that I was a bit scared and nervous to take the flight, I am afraid to any problem that might lead to accident but I do pray that nothing bad will happened, of course I don’t want to die so early because I still got a lot of things to do in the future.  Along the trip, I expect to get a good sit so that I could have a good view from the top to the lands.  It is one of my dreams to see how wide the world is from the bird’s eye view and I am very happy that this dream will come true this coming September.  I am excited to see the inner parts of the plane, to see the brilliant mechanical architecture.  I always wish that I want to go ride plane even just ones but the Lord is good, he granted me two rides of the plane back and forth.  I believe that my classmates were very excited too to take their first flight.  I am excited to take my first take off, a lift from gravity.  I am sure and believe that is it a kind of breath-taking experience for us first timers.  I just wish that I will not feel dizzy or something so that I can enjoy the whole flight.  I know that the flight will only take hours a two or three but I am sure that it will give us a whole new big experiences.  From watching the movies, I wonder how the stewards greet their plane passengers and teach them how to use the air bags or what will be the best thing to do if there is any problem that will occur.  All of these things are running inside my mind now.  I guess that I am just too happy, to happy to experience the first and the start of more coming trips.
I have asked some of my friends and relatives that already has an experience on riding a plane or taking a flight.  They said that it is just like riding a jeep but the twist is you are flying in the skies.  I said wooh! Is it real or just a made up?  But they said, I will have my own kind of experience when I read one of those planes.  I expect to have a good experience while riding the airplane, I really don’t know what to expect but riding must be a good taste of experience because I saw the emotion of my sister after her first plane flight.  I try not to be so rush but stay cool and keep calm. Of course, I don’t want to be some kind of ignorant to look like.  I swear and cross it to my heart that I will behave when I get inside the plane and will never make an action that will cause trouble to me and also to my classmates and facilitator.  I expect that I will learn a lot on this trip this coming September because I will meet a lot of people inside the plane, we don’t know, I might meet some foreigners inside the plane and eventually become my new friend.  I am also expecting to see a lot of Filipino’s in different culture along the flight.  I am excited to meet these types of people inside the plane during my flight.  I am excited to feel the height, I am afraid of height but I am willing to take this challenge.  I am excited to see how the clouds look like in near view from the top.  I want to see how the clouds look like when it starts to rain.  I am expecting that my seatmate who I think it will be my classmate will behave at the flight.  My colleague at the church told me that there will be some bumps along the flight due to turbulence she said that I must just close my eyes so that I will feel no fear and pray.  I really do hope that there will be no any accident along the flight.  Up until now after all those things that I have written starting from the top I still have no idea what would happen or what could happen on my first flight, deep in my heart I just wish and pray that it will all go right.  Yes I am afraid a bit not that much, well I guess that this is just normal.  I already expected this since I was in first year college.  I am excited on this upcoming trip because it will not become just a field trip instead it will be more like a business trip so it means that we will meet a lot of investors and professionals at the future.  I expect to meet an investor and I want to be near them so that I can observe how they judge an idea pitched by the students or professionals.
I always expect that this flight is going to be awesome.  I am not sure if am I just expecting too much about this flight because there might be things that could happen that could make the flight ugly or some kind of not so fun.  Well I asked our Field Trip Seminar President Ron of what airline company plane we will take and he answered that it will be the Cebu Pacific airlines because it offers a lot of discounts and low-fairs.  It sounds good, so I decided to research the background of that airline company.

I expect that the airline company f the Cebu Pacific will have a good service towards its customers and I also expect that they will double check the airplane before releasing it into the runway to avoid any accidents.  I trust with all my heart this airline company, I entrust with then my life and also the lives of my classmates and facilitator that will come to the Field Trip and Seminar at the Manila City.
I have read a lot of bad things in Manila City like it were not a good place for living or the crime rates are too high and the city is too polluted in many ways like air pollution and garbage pollution.  I am sure that my body will react to that new kind of environment but I will make sure to take care of myself so that I can prevent any sickness like fever or coughing.  I am sure that I am going to miss my beloved home town Davao City.  But of course I also know that there are a lot of places in Manila City that is worth visiting, so if we will have a chance to visit any of those places then I am glad to have some souvenir like pictures of t-shirts.
Our flight will be at dawn at 3am we should be at the new airport in Davao City located near Jose Maria Colleges.  I am sure that I can’t sleep or will have no sleep before the day of our flight due to the excitement that I feel, so I am expecting that somehow I will get some good sleep at the plane.  I expect that there will be a food to be served to us with delicious desserts or snacks.  I am expecting some beautiful stewardess that will assist us on our luggage; it is surely a shower of beauty moments; rock and roll, peace to the world.
I am expecting that nobody will ruin our flight because it will be all suck-up if there is someone will try to do stupid things.  I have watched a lot of movies wherein the airplane is the main center of topic just like the movie Flight Plan, Air Force One, Snakes on the Plane and Con-Air, all these movies has the same line of story wherein there is something bad that will happen along the plane flight.  I hope that none of these movie stories will happen during the flight on September 4 back and forth.  Well I guess that I am just over-thinking too much, I know that the Lord God almighty will protect me and all of my classmates and facilitator in our trip on the Field Trip and Seminar.  If ever there is any bad will happen then I just pray that the plane will not crash straight to the ground.

I will expect that I will get a whole new ride in my life when I take this flight and I believe that everything will come in smooth way.  I really don’t know what to expect about this upcoming flight to Manila City because I don’t know what will happen starting from the airport to riding the plane.  I think I must have to research about the system flow, the rules and regulation of the airport or anything related to the flight so that I will have enough knowledge when I go there.  I was used to of  riding a big boats like Super Perry since I was a child and I really don’t like the experiences because every time I ride a boat when I was a child is always vomit along the trip.  Luckily I got use to by riding barge when going to the Island Garden City of Samal for beach outing or vacation.  So I just expect now that I will not vomit inside the plane to avoid any shameful moments in life.  My mother is expecting also that I will vomit along the trip so she already has a plan to give me a lot of medicine to take before I take the flight.  I have witnessed a lot of goodbyes and sad separations at the airport during when my brother-in-law go to Qatar and make some fortune there and due to that I will expect that my mother will might make some crying moments before I take the flight but I will make sure that it will never happen because I will make her cry the night before the plane will take off.  I will expect that I will have a good seat and at least maybe a little bit near at the comfort room so that I will have easy access to their comfort rooms.  I will expect that I will not go to sleep along the flight so that I can really say that paying the twenty one thousand pesos plus is worth paying because that big amount of money is so hard to find during this days, I am just too thankful to my eldest sister that she shoulders all the expenses from the pocket money to everything; I am thankful that she loves me as her youngest brother.  I will expect that I am going to finish this two thousand words on what to expect on my first plane flight this coming month of September in our Field Trip and Seminar.

3 idiots (Movie Reflection)

·         Ranchoddas Shamaldas Chanchad/Phunsuhk Wanghdu
-          This is one of the main characters in the very famous hindi-movie “The 3 Idiots” portrayed by one of the stars of Bollywood, Mr. Aamir Khan.  Every people who watched the movie will surely say that they really love this character; they are hooked in this character.  I want to describe first the personality or my impression to the character Ranchoddas Shamaldas Chanchad.  Well everyone knows that it is not really his real name in the story because his real name is Mr. Phunsuhk Wangdhu, who turns out to be a great teacher and a scientist.  When I first saw the character of Mr. Ranchoddas Shamaldas Chanchad in the movie, I know that the character will really be good, but as the movie goes, I was wrong because the character Mr. Ranchoddas Shamaldas Chanchad is a great friend and also a great philosopher.  I have learned a lot of thing from the life of Mr. Ranchoddas Chanchad and I guess that everyone who watched the movie surely does get a lot of learning.  The characters first appearance was during the night of freshmen welcome night which is really a big foolishness doings of the higher years in the college.  That night, everyone was doing very crazy things wearing only underwear.  That is very crazy because it is so very degrading in the lives of those freshmen students.  Along with those crazy scenarios, a young man came up, a bit shocked by the things he has seen.  He was force to do the same thing, wear off his clothes and leave only the underwear but Mr. Ranchoddas refuses it.  Instead he made a choice to go away, he leave those fools and go straight to his room but he was challenge by one of the higher year student that he will piss on the door of Mr. Ranchoddas room if he will not come out.  Well we all know what happened to that guy who pisses on the door, I believe that it really hurts and stings a lot though I did not experience it but as a guy I can feel his agony.  What I want to emphasize on that specific scene is the choice of Mr. Ranchoddas, it is an impact to the students like me that we have a choice; every choice we have is a weapon but sometimes can bring us to something bad but what Mr. Ranchoddas wants to emphasize to make the right choice.  I realize that I have encountered a lot of things in life like troubles or problems but not most of it I med a right decision.  Making a right decision always brings us a good result in life but we have to be firm on choice we made.  Because as we can see from the movie when Mr. Ranchoddas lock up his door, he thinks of a way on how to stop his senior from doing the crazy thing, Mr. Ranchoddas supports his choice with a will to change.  I have also realized that we are like machines sometimes because we just follow what others will say without any reaction and if there is then we just let it go.  In the case of the welcome night of the freshmen, they have a choice not to do those crazy things that was told by their seniors but they still do because they were afraid.  Fears always lead us to wrong choices in life.  Those freshmen in the movie were surely ashamed of what they do but in their minds they just think that they must have to do it because it was a school tradition for the new comers.  Students like me always have a fear at school on so many things like failing on the subjects or fear to the school professors or teachers.  These factors affect the life of the student and bring only stress in life.  Mr. Ranchoddas is a very open-minded person, loves to learn, philosophical, always positive in life, creative, experimental, and a genius.  He possesses all good attitude and become a motivation and inspiration to his friends Raju and Farhan.  I really wish that I was somehow like Mr. Ranchoddas but I guess that it will be all a dream but I am trying all my best to take his path, a path to success.  Mr. Ranchoddas Chanchad always thinks outside the box.  He thinks so differently from others.  Others may have seen only one but for him it has many.  Just like the scenario where in Mr. Viru have introduce to them his “Astronaut Pen”, it is a very fragile thing for Mr. Viiru because it was a inheritance from his professor due to his excellence in his study.  Mr. Viruu brags about the pen that NASA spend a million money to create a pen that works in the outer space, a pen that can work in zero-gravity.  He also added the fact that he has been searching for thirty two years for the next person who will take care of the astronaut’s pen but he has not found it yet.  Along with that scenario, He asked the students who wants to have it and everyone have raise their hands and then after they have raise their hands Mr. Ranchoddas raise his hands so that he can ask Mr. Viru of his golden question that has left Mr. Viru silence.  Mr. Ranchoddas asked Mr. Viru, why do they have to create a million dollar pen instead of using pencils?  Well it also has a big impact to me.  I have also asked myself why? Mr. Ranchoddasis the only one that time who thinks outside the box.  Mr. Ranchoddas is right; we have invented the pencil that works everywhere so why not use it.  I have realized that in life, in order to meet success, we must need to think outside the box; we must not follow the trend.  In this way, it can help us to understand things in a whole new level.  It is what the teachers also want us to do, to think outside the box.  We are not idiots; we are just not using our brains in full-blast.  I have also realized from that scenario the reality of man’s nature, making life complicated.  In the case of the NASA people, they have invented that million dollar pen which they could have just use a pencil; they have choose the complicated way.  In our life as students, we are not making our best at school and just fooling around wasting our time to the nonsense things that has nothing to do with our success.  Instead of choosing those wrong paths which complicates life, why not make everything right at school, stop the foolishness and make everything to pass the college so that we could have a good life at the future.  Again, we must make a choice, a right choice.  Mr. Ranchoddas is a very thoughtful friend to his collegians, which I like because it teaches us student not to be selfish to others.  It is better to share what we have to others so that we can have success in life together.  As we can see from the movie, he gives all the help that he can give to his friends, not a single problem he did not help.  It is a lesson to us that we must not be selfish or greed like their classmate whom they called “the Silencer” who aim nothing but only his success and the fall down of his classmates.  What I like the most in the character of Mr. Ranchoddas is his beliefs in life.  The first thing that I have learned from his is the quotation “All is well”, it is his famous line in the movie. The implication of that line to my life is to stay positive through life’s challenges.  It is true because if we are distracted on what we are doing, it can lead us to nothing but bad results.  I first saw the movie “The 3 idiots” when I was in fourth-year high school and the “all is well” syndrome really helps me a lot to graduate from high school but in college now it seems like it is not helping well in my life.  I keep on thinking that all is well but there are still a lot of things that distracts me.  Well I guess it is where the positive thinking comes in.  But I still keep the word of Mr. Rachoddas that all is well to bring me into good mood.  Mr. Ranchoddas always encourage his friends Raju and Farhan to fight and never surrender but when he finds out that his two friends has something that matters to them more than engineering; it is where Ranchoddas understands them more.  His friend Farhan, does not want to become an engineer but he as force to take the course because it is what his parents dictated to him.  Farhan really wants to become a wildlife photographer; he loves to capture pictures than draining his mind answering complicated mathematical problems.  His friend Raju registers in the world of engineering so that he can raise his family from the poverty but he is so afraid of the future.  But Ranchoddas find it hard for them to pass the course especially if it is not really the course that they love.  Ranchoddas have shared his thoughts to his friends “Make your Passion as your job” this statement have a big impact to the lives of his friend.  To me as a student, it hits me too because I admit that my course now which is Information Technology is not really my first choice, it was Major in Music is my first course choice.  I have told my mother when I was just in third-year high school that I want to take up Major in Music as my course because I want to become a great musician and a teacher to aspiring musicians as well at the future.  At that moment, it was all clear in my mind what I wanted to be but when I told it to my mother, I did not expect her response.  She said that I will be having a hard time finding good a good job and it will be too costly  if I will take up that course, so in order to live peacefully with them, I follow their will not to take up that course and find another one that catches my interest so I take Information Technology which I find it now very hard but the good news is, I am enjoying all the pain now in this course and I have survived for the past three years and has 15 more subjects to go to finish college.  There is a question that always strikes my mind, “why did I take up Information Technology?” I always complain but I did not realize earlier that taking what I don’t like will really complicate my life.  I have always imagined what my life would be now if I took up the Major in Music course?  I am sure that I am really happy because music is where my passion is; I have loved it since I was a child.  But I guess there is no point for me now to regret because I am already here in the field of Information technology and loving it.  I have seen a lot of opportunities here in the world of Information Technology.  Well music is always in my heart and it can never be replaced.  The life of Mr. Ranchoddas Shamaldas Chanchad is an eye-opener to the students to struggles a lot to life.  He is a reminder that we students should be enjoying learning not stressed in learning.  We must fing the joy in learning because through that we can find happiness and it will help us to do more in our studies.  It will also give us a good or high performance in school if we start loving learning.  I guess it is one of the factors that holds back the student to learn more, they were pressured and distracted due to many projects or assignments which has short deadlines.  Every student should learn how to deal first with stress because if we can’t, there is a lot of possibilities that we will do stupid things or sometimes beyond crazy things like suicide.  We have seen the life of Joy Lobo, one of the characters in the movie who committed suicide right after Mr. Viru their professor did not accept his project due to it is beyond deadline and what is worst is Mr. Viru called up the father of Mr. Lobo and report that his son will not graduate for doing crazy stuffs and not following the deadlines.  We have seen a great stress that rules the life of Joy Lobo which resulted to his suicide.  It is a sad reality happening on any schools all over the world.  Students committing suicide due to their devilish professor who does not care about the case of the student but I guess that it is just normal to them because they think that they are there to teach student to become more solid and become professionals.  I hope that those students who watched the movie will learn that suicide is not a good solution for any problem we encountered at school.  We must remember that we have a choice to fight back, to rise up again.  We must not let stress and discouragements break our souls and commit crazy things like suicide.  We can do a lot of things, to one problem there is a thousand solutions.  Let us always think positive and keep in mind that All is Well.

·         Farhan Qureshi

-          Farhan is one of the good friend of Ranchoddas, he is like a robot because he let his life follow all of the instructions and dictations of his parents on what to do in his life; and he never speaks to his parents of what he really loved doing in his life until he was encouraged by his friend Ranchoddas Chanchad.  I can see from the movie that the life of Farhan is not that easy because he is fighting against on what he loves which is photography; he suffers from stress due to his parents will.  But what he did is he obeys and follows his parents.  If we extract that part, we can say that most of the time we students do things or choices because we love them, we choose their happiness over our own happiness in life but we because of that also we eventually blame them someday which commonly happens to anyone who experienced this type of scenario.  We can say that the life of Farhan is like what they called a “Yes-man”; anything you say to them on what to do they just say yes ma’am or yes sir.  We students must not be like this, we must interact to what we are engaging with or what are the instructions being given to us by our professors or instructors.  We students always have the right to ask questions if there is something in your mind which is not clarified but of course, we must ask the right question and also a legit one so that we also can receive a good answer.  I like Farhan due to his attitude, a silence one but have a great imagination and passion on photography.  In the movie, we can see how much he admires and adores his friend Ranchoddas and Raju, he is also a thoughtful friend and never turn back his shoulder when there is a friend in need of help.  I hope that students will learn the value of friendship in school; friends are there to help you succeed in life not to help drag your life down.  We must also find a true and real friend because in times of troubles they are always there.  In the movie, we can see how Farhan really love his friend Ranchoddas because he even made an action that lead to the cancelation of the flight, imagine how many people have delays on their arrivals, meeting and activity due to that crazy action itself.  He even do the gate-crash at the wedding day of Pia the daughter of Mr. Viru together with his friend Raju.  Those actions are surely all reckless but they all do those things in the name of friendship.  Farhan was persuaded by Ranchoddas to follow his dream and forget his fear to his father that will become really angry when he hears Farhan decision.  Well we saw hat Farhan really take the advice of Ranchoddas to marry photography not engineering.  I can say that we student who knows that they are not really fitted to what course they are enrolled now that they want to shift or transfer course.  We all know the struggles of this because we can see from the video that Farhan is not happy at all being an engineer.  His biggest decision in his life maybe is when he confronted his father and mother that he wants to persue his dream which is to become a wild life photographer.  Farhan takes a big risk the moment he decided to confess everything on his problem.  I believe that we students who have the same experience wants to do the same thing like what Farhan did.  I honestly want to that thing also but what is stopping me is the fear.  The fear that my parents might stress out and I don’t like that because they are too old to handle stresses in life and I don’t want to become or bring them a stress so I just push my luck in this subject and do best at it and have no regret.  Farhan knows the risk if he will confess everything to his parents but he still do and don’t let fear stop him on reaching his dream.  We can see the reaction of Farhan’s father, very angry and stressed about Farhan’s decision.  On that day of Farhan’s confession, it was also the day of his final interview to get a job but he choose what is on his heart, it is a really big decision because it seems like a life and death matter of decision; it is like now or never.  I have realized after reflecting the life of Farhan that in order to achieve life’s success, we must learn how to take risks in life.  We student should take-risk if we want to achieve success but we must also keep in my mind that we just not go and go and take-risk; we should take a calculated risk.  An action we know that if we do, no matter what will happen, we will always get good results from that action.  Many students are afraid to take risks in life because they think that it might not do something good in their lives.  Farhan’s decision is an example of calculated risk-taking because he has a destination to go after his father let him do what he wants in his life.  Farhan has a clear job though the salary is not that big but still he will go because he loves photography.  I can say that Farhan is a good son to his parents because as we can see from the way he persuade his parents with politeness and straight from the heart words, he persuaded his parents in a very effective way, not in shouting manner but in smooth emotional way.  I wish that I could do the same thing.  In the life of Farhan, he ones said in the movie that “Your friends fail, you feel bad.  Your friends top, you feel worst” he said this during their exam wherein both Raju and Farhan got the last and second to the last place at the examination.  I honestly admit that I have experienced it also in school.  There are times wherein I feel like I was always at the last place which really feels bad because it seems like my hard work is not enough and not paying off my efforts.  There are also times that I have that chance to be on top which really feels good but not satisfying because I don’t know how long I can keep this up.  It is the moment wherein I realized that we classmates should not work alone, instead we should help each other in any way we can like group studies.  Because I believe that through that method, we can graduate together and achieve our dreams in life.  I am not saying that we must help each other and become dependent to each other, what I want to emphasize is we student should not be selfish and think only what is good for you, we should also mind what others feel, consider every little things because if we learn how to appreciate little things, we could balance our decisions in life.  I have realized that we student should know early what we want in our lives in the future but most especially, we should know what our passion is.  Knowing ones strengths and weaknesses is a great weapon for gaining life’s success.  Why is it important? Let us take for example what Ranchoddas said when they were to drunk he said to Farhan that “What would happened if Michael Jackson was force by his father to be a boxer?  What would happen it Muhammad Ali was forced by his father to become a singer?”  He added that it is a disaster.  Both stars Michael Jackson and Muhammad Ali are best on their fields because it is their passion.  Since they were child, they know already what they wanted to be at the future so they have set their lives at the path of career where they fit.  Imagine both of these artist exchange fields of expertise, then maybe it will be the start of the end of their careers but I guess this will not happen anymore because Michael Jackson was already dead.  When I was a child, I have a lot of dreams; I am bursting on ideas on what I want to be at the future.  One of my dreams is to become a martial art instructor so I enrolled in Karate Do and Taekwondo.  I have a lot of awards during my journey in the world of martial arts but suddenly I stop due to some circumstances and my mother does not want to see me get hurt.  After Martial Arts, I engage in music during my late grade six.  I am also shocked with myself that I have this passion in music because it never came up to my mind that I want to be a musician; it just pops out in my mind. From that moment on, the discoveries of my talent made me more confident and know what I really want to be.  But as what I have said, I don’t like to regret things and computers are my second love so still I am happy.  What I am trying to emphasize here is the fact that we are killing thousands of possibilities on what we are going to be at the future due to our choices of today.  Our choices of today affect a big part of the future.  Just like our national hero Dr. Jose Rizal, instead of becoming a great doctor, he become a nations greatest hero for helping the people get the freedom that has been gone for three hundred thirty three years.  Just like me who wants to become a musician but marry the world of Information Technology.  There are a lot of branches of possibilities that we are cutting in our every choice.  We must choose the right choice because who knows at the future you might become the next President of your own country but it does not happen due to your choice of today.  The character of Farhan in the movie “The 3 idiots” is for the students who are not happy on what course they are at now.  This character is for those students who are afraid to tell what is inside them straight to their parents.  This character is for those students who are being hold back by fears; Fears of rejection.  Rejection is one of the factors in life that make us students be discouraged in our race to success.  Because others can’t handle too may rejection they end up quitting, quitting in studies, and sometimes quitting the harsh reality of life.  It is a hurting truth but we must stop that, we must start to think that rejections are there to toughen us and to make us better persons.  Just like what Mr. Jack Ma said, “Get used to Rejections”.  No matter how many times we have been rejected, we must always fight back again.  We must not let our guards down.  During Farhan’s confession to his parents, he knows the risk and he also know that he might get rejected by his parents.  But all went well after his confession because he uses soft words that capture the solid heart of his father.  If we will learn how to deal with rejection then rejection will become a channel of opportunity for us.  In a way that rejections will help us find our weaknesses and develop it to become your own weapon in life, so that in your next attempt due to rejections now you know what to and how to get what you want.  Farhan’s father have understands the situation of his son after the confession and even give Farhan a new camera, it was supposed to be a new costly laptop but his father wants to convert it to a new camera.  See? The result of dealing with rejection will be always good.  I believe that students like me sometimes wish that we have the same father like Farhan, a father that has the capability to listen on their child.  Because obviously, nowadays we still have the stereo-type mentality that having a good course will always get us rich, and this is the most common mentality that parents have.  But no, we student should learn how to voice out our dreams, because sometimes, lack of talking makes the situation worst.  How would your parents understand you while you did not even utter a single word about what you wanted to be, what you like, and what is your dream?
·         Raju Rastogi
-          This character in the movie represents all of those students who has a lot of fears wherein they in-trust all their life to many Gods that they will guide him and shower a lot of wisdom.  This guy has more faith rings than fingers as what his friend Ranchoddas have said.  In the movie, we can see how strong the faith is of Mr. Raju.  He prays a lot everyday on everything he do he seeks wisdom to many Gods that he serves.  We can see in the movie that he is the poor character between there circle of friends.  Mr. Raju’s family does not have enough money to send his father to the hospital, his mother has stop working and all of her pension was spend to the medicine of his father, and his sister can’t get married because the dowry is too costly.  In real life, I believe that a lot of students out there including me who struggles in poverty.  A lot of problems are coming to our lives because we are dictated with the need of money; as we can see nowadays, every move we make has a corresponding amount of money.  I will take for example my experience in the FTS subject, there is a deadline of payment last Friday but until now I was not able to pay due to the scarcity of money.  I just thank God that he uses my sister to help in this problem.  Poverty is a great factor in our lives that holds us back to our dreams.  Living in this world needs the presence of money, money, and money just like what the song “It is all about the Price tag -- Jessie J.”  We are been dictated by money wherein it seems like we are slaves of it.  But I am glad that we are slowly changing now through the knowledge of “Technpreneurship” wherein we does not need money to build a business, all we need is the idea that can be commercialize.  In the case of Mr. Raju, he was so stress and very fearful.  He is afraid of the future and can’t handle stress properly.  There was even an instance that he left Farhan and Rancho and evacuate to the other room because he thinks that his friends can’t help him and will only drag him to mud.  We students feel the same way sometimes, because we think that our friends will bring nothing but foolishness and crazy things but no.  Our friends has nothing to do with our future because it is all about us, it is all about our choice in life.  In the movie, Raju committed a big suicide inside the room of their principal Mr. Viru.  But before we tackle that, let us talk about why he commits suicide.  He was forced by his principal on who will be the one to get rusticated in their college, is going to be him or his friend Ranchoddas?  A great pressure clouds up the mind of Mr. Raju, he was crying due to confusion.  We can see that he can’t sell out his friend because he loves his friends so the solution that came up on his mind is to commit that damn suicide, jumping at the third floor of the building straight to the surface of the Earth.  I admit that there are times in my life that I wanted to end my life because I was so full of stress and can’t handle it anymore but thanks to all of the people helping me to get back to life.  The life of Mr. Raju is a representation of all those students who are suffering the life’s most common problem which is poverty and fear.  His life has been a slave of fears and that what holds him back to have success in life.  Mr. Raju gets easily rattled even though the problem that he was facing is not that big to worry.  We students are sometimes like this, we easily get distracted and rattled on problems, well being in that state of mind while facing a problem is not a good thing; it brings nothing but bad results.  It is important to stay calm on any situation.  Being calm is always a great weapon for us students because if we are calm then we can think of great solutions that can solve our big problems.  Well I guess that Mr. Raju feels like he is very helpless while facing the raging face of his principal Mr. Viru.  Mr. Raju is afraid to have an argument with their principal because Raju thinks that his life status is not worthy or does not deserve to fight back.  I believe that even if we are poor, we have the right to fight for our rights and privileges in life.  Let us admit it, in every school, there is always a teacher who acts like the way Mr. Viru does.  We are so angry with them because we can’t imagine how they calculate things in life.  They always think that they are right all the time.  We students have the right to fight them back but of course in a rightful way, by the way of talking.  I somehow experienced being confronted by my teacher with the false accusation.  I was a bit shocked because I don’t know what he is talking about so I stood up and fight for my right to speak up.  I have cleared my name in a right way then right after the talking, we were all settled down and back to normal.  The life of Raju as a student in the college of Engineering reflects the life of many students.  Ranchoddas have made a lot of things to open the eyes of Raju that he must not fear the future because how can we live of today if we think a lot of the future.  As I remember during our class in Philosophy subject, our subject teacher Mr. Dalona once said that “We must live for today not of the future”.  I believe that what he said is right because future eventually comes today.  The only way to know the future is to make it happen; it is one of the most famous lines I have read.  Obviously, we have to live for today because if we will not then we can’t reach the future.  Mr. Raju must be very thankful to Ranchoddas because Raju throw away all his fears of t he future and a symbol of moving on, he throw also his faith rings.  The day during his final job interview, he was on the wheel chair.  He was asked by one of the panel personnel on what happens to him.  Raju have told the entire true story to the interviewer and holds nothing back.  Raju makes sure that he will fight his fear and tell no lies.  Raju takes a great courage and determination to survive his final interview.  The interviewer were all so shocked to the confessions and straight answers of Mr. Raju, the interviewers does not like the way Mr. Raju speaks and so tactless, they said that due to his attitude, many customers will not like it.  One of the interviewers offers Mr. Raju the job but of one condition, he will erase his frank attitude to prevent any future complaints from the customers or clients.  But Mr. Raju did not accept the offer because he thinks that he will be fooling his self if he will do the condition.  The personnel were shocked by his answer but one of the interviewers wants him to be a part of their company.  It is a great achievement in the life of Mr. Raju, to be accepted by a one of the biggest company in their place due to his honest personality.  The life of Mr. Raju is onne example of a man that has dignity and integrity.  It is the weapon of the poor peoples their dignities because honest people always gain good things in life.  I love how Raju deal with his life problems.  Since I was in elementary, I always hear from the teachers that in success, attitude is always a great factor.  A good attitude always attracts employers.  Having a business or work does not always deal with intelligence; attitude has always something to do.  If we have a good attitude then we will have friends and good employers, the aura of good vibes always win the hearts of the customers.  Ranchoddas once shared to Rajuu and Farhan that if we follow the path of excellence then success will chase you.  At first I was a bit confuse about the statement of Ranchoddas but I eventually understand.  What I understand from the statement is, if we do our best in school and level up our performance then we will have good grades, good grades are weapons because big companies always seek those brilliant ones.  As what Ranchoddas said “let success chase you”.  By reflecting the life of Raju, I realized that I must really stay focus and determined in my study because it is my first step on succeeding.  I will not let poverty holds me back, I will see to it that I will follow the path of excellence and gain success in life.  I will make sure that no matter what happens on everyday life, I will never surrender and keep a good attitude towards life problem.  Students like me should understand the fact that poverty is a curable cancer of the society, all we need to do is to act and plan for success.  Raju have overcome the problem of poverty and have gained a good life and a good job.  So we must not forget that if others can then we can do it also.  We can do everything we want in our lives if we have the will power.  Strong will and determination always drive a person’s life to take the challenge of life.  Raju take the challenge and prove that poverty is just an obstacle exist to build the solid foundation of being a human.  Farhan is a great example of excellence to the students who think that they are so buried deep down in the darkness of poverty.  In the movie, we saw the life Story of Joy Lobo, the guy who committed suicide.  Before he died,, he wrote on the wall the two words that triggers him to kill himself, the word “I quit”.  It is a sad reality of life, those students who is challenged by life easily quits to the problem.  Well I have learned from the movie that quitting is never an option and never a reason to surrender.  If we are too easy to be break then how can we reach our dreams?  I have been taught ones the statement that if we are too overloaded of life’s problem then we must “Rest when we’re tired, Stop when we are done”.  This statement creates a big impact in my life because it made me understand more that quitting will never make us successful in life.  Farhan ones tried to end his self but then regret of that foolish act that he have done.  He helps himself to rise up again in life’s challenges.  Through all life’s obstacles, problems or anything that will bring you down, just keep in mind that we have a mission to be accomplished.  We must think of all the people who loves us, make them your inspiration and motivation.  Be brave and never surrender because the road to success is narrow but if we survive then a lot of great things come to us.  Farhan did not throw away all of his faith to God, he just throw away his fears.  We must always remember and never forget that God is always there to guide us and give us wisdom.  Let us always pray to him because he always listens.  God loves us, for every problem that will come to our lives well it has a reason.  All we need to do is to overcome the problem to know the reason.  Whatever that reason is, I am sure it will teach us a lesson about life.

My favorite character in the movie is obviously Mr. Ranchoddas Shamaldas Chanchad whose real name is Phunsuk Wangdu.  I like his character because we can get a lot of good lesson about life from Ranchoddas.  His attitude influenced a lot of viewers of the movie.  I am sure that everyone who watched the movie will agree with me.  In every problem I have met and will meet, all I can say is, all is well.

"Pirates of Silicon Valley" - Movie Reflection

1. What are the factors that contributed to the success and failure of Steve Jobs as a technopreneur?
I am one of the fans of Mr. Steve Jobs due to his ideas contributed in the Apple Company which gives an enormous and massive effect to the lives of the people.  The movie about his life which is the “The Pirates of Silicon Valley” have cleared my mind on who really Mr. Steve Jobs is and also the history of their rivalry of the owner of the famous competitor of the Apple Company which is Microsoft owned by Mr. Bill Gates who is one of the most wealthiest man on the planet Earth.  Before watching the movie about Mr. Steve Jobs, I thought that his company run so smoothly and does not have encountered any rough situations at the past but I guess I was wrong.  In the question, what are the factors that contributed to the success and failure of Steve Jobs as a technopreneur? I am going to tackle first the factors which contributed to the Success of Mr. Steve Jobs. And these are the following factors that I have observed which make Mr. Steve Jobs successful:
·         Great Ideas
o   As we can see on the movie of Pirates of the Silicon Valley, we can observe that Mr. Steve Jobs is the one who is giving more brilliant ideas.  He is not that expert or a master when it comes to building or coding his ideas but still what matters most is, his ideas can really have good impacts to the users or to the people.  It is the weapon of Mr. Steve Jobs, his advantage from his other competitor.  His fresh ideas are like candies, if given to the public then surely the majority will have a taste.
·         Determination and Guts
o   As I observed in the movie, during his starting days they don’t have any good facility to do their projects or computer, they don’t have any good incubation hub but Mr. Steve Jobs did not mind it at all instead they converted their own garage to their new working room or office.  Mr. Steve Jobs together with his small team of determined world changers have never stop, they continue to move own.  I can say that to all aspiring technopreneurs like me, we should not be discouraged so easily.  We must not let problem win us so easily because as what the old saying says “no guts, no glory” let us make Mr. Steve Jobs determination be our inspiration to succeed in life.
·         Adaptive to the Environment
o   I was a bit surprise when I first saw the movie because I never thought that Mr. Steve Jobs and his team is some kind has that “Hippy look”.  Long hair, lots of beards on the face and has a very youthful spirit.  But what I have observed in the movie is, his willingness to change.  Why I say so? Well we can see how he cut his hair and remove his mustache so that he will look formal when talking to customers or clients.  He adapted the environment of the business world which is to look formal.  His friend asked him ones why he cut his hair? Mr. Steve Jobs answered “Banks don’t like beards”.  We can see from the movie how Mr. Steve Jobs look when he first go to the bank, he is just wearing short pants, t-shirt and rubber shoes then his hair is long and his face are covered with beards.  With that look, what bank will let you barrow a capital?  Banks can’t trust the look of Mr. Steve Jobs so he finds it hard to barrow money.  It is a good choice for Mr. Steve Jobs to change and to adapt.  It is a reminder for us aspiring technopreneurs that we must always have a good appearance to the public or anywhere we go especially when selling our products or making transactions to the big companies.
·         Persuasive Talking
o   What I like the most in the skills of Mr. Steve Jobs is his way of talking; his persuasive talking.  Mr. Steve Jobs do all the talking when it comes to dealing their products because there is always a high possibility that the product will sell.  He knows what words to use, he knows what he is talking, straight to the topic and can always catch the attention of the customer or client.  This type of skill is a must have, we aspiring technopreneurs should practice this type of skill because it will build us most especially when it comes to pitching our ideas.
·         Companions/Comrades
o   Mr. Steve Jobs will not become successful without his comrades and close friends.  He needs a friend that is loyal to him and stands with him no matter what will happen to the result of their products.  We aspiring technopreneurs should have a team, a team which will be very cooperative, creative, loyal and supportive because we can’t do all the things in the world along.
·         Passion
o   I believe that Mr. Steve Jobs success will never come if he does not have passion on it.  He loves what he doing and that drives him to do more, to be more competitive and creative.  Passion is like his battery to him, it energizes him on their business and also on his ideas.  We aspiring technopreneurs should have a great amoung of passion on what we do.  Because if have passion and love on what we do then it will surely result into good things always.

Mr. Steve Jobs success does not favor him all along the way, as we can see on the movie, he was kicked out of being part of the Apple Company which he founded together with his friend.  I am sure that it is one of the most painful moments in the life of Mr. Steve Jobs.  These are the factors that contributed to the failure of Mr. Steve Jobs:
·         Forcing too much his workers
o   As I observed in the movie, I can say that Mr. Steve Jobs is not a good boss or president to his workers.  We can see how he put too much pressure on his worker.  His workers did not even have enough sleep and much worst is his workers did not sleep for almost two to three days just to finish all the design, coding or anything that concerns their products.  There is even one worker of him that punches him on the face because his worker can’t handle anymore the stress that Mr. Steve Jobs giving to them.  We aspiring technopreneurs, if we succeed at the future and will have a big company then we should always think that workers are equally important like customers.  We must give them a proper treatment also so that they can give a productive works.  Putting too much pressure will not help them to do more; they will just end up quitting the job.
·         Let his workers fight each other
o   Mr. Steve Jobs divided his people into two departments, the Apple department and the Macintosh department.  Each department has their own line of product to do which is good during its starting days.  But after many achievements that have done by each department, there is something that builds up on the mind of each worker on each department which is the jealousy and the thinking of “we are the best department”.  I believe that is was the start of cold war inside the company of Mr. Steve Jobs.  What’s worst is, he even let each department fight each other because he believes that it will result into good, that his worker on each department will do more.  Mr. Steve Jobs believes that “Creation is messy” but it triggers the workers to fight each other.  What Mr. Jobs do dividing the department is a good strategy on business planning but letting his workers fight each other well it is a no to me.  I believe that taking care of the workers is one of the responsibilities of the president.
·         Trusting the wrong person
o   Mr. Steve’s one of the most wrong thing that he do is to trust Mr. Bill Gates but I can’t blame him because if Mr. Steve is a persuasive person then Mr. Bill is way more better because he made Mr. Steve believe that Microsoft is not a rival which is not really true on the very first hand.  Mr. Steve Job was warned by one of his loyal worker that Mr. Bill Gates is not a friend but a foe but instead of listening he just ignored the problem.  It was too late for Mr. Steve Jobs to know that Mr. Bill Gates copy the structure of their own Apple operating system and Mr. Bill Gates just made some modifications.  Mr. Bill gate is too wise to defend his self that what Mr. Steve Jobs allegation to him is not true.  But in the eyes of the people, it was all clear the Mr. Bill Gates steals his product from the works of Mr. Steve Jobs.  It is a lesson for us aspiring technopreneurs that we must seek those loyal persons; we must know first the background of any person that will work for you so that you will not regret someday if there is anything that will happen.
In so many ways, we can’t blame all to Mr. Bill Gates the failure of Mr. Steve Jobs because at the very first place, Mr. Steve Jobs has a lot of wrong doings too that has contributed to his failures in life.  But if there is something that we technopreneurs should adapt from Mr. Steve Jobs is his passion and determination because as we can see from that movie, he has been kicked out of the company but he manages to go back again after a couple of years.

2. How do you see yourself as a technopreneur?
How do I see myself as a technopreneur? From this moment, if I rate myself as a technopreneur, I feel like I was still a seed freshly buried in the fertile soil of Information Technology education.  I am a starting seed that needs a caring, a sunlight and water.  A caring which I will receive from the hard-working teacher who did their very best to teach as, especially Mr. Gamboa who is our facilitator in the subject Technopreneurship 1.  Our facilitator Mr. Gamboa is showering us knowledge and wisdom which really have a big impact and help to us, a great influence for us to be far better technopreneurs years from now.  I as a beginner, a starting technopreneur, I am still observing how the world of technopreneurs.  But I can say that I as a technopreneur am valiant.  I can say that being tough and adaptive on the field of technopreneurship is one of the great assets the technopreneur should have, it is a weapon.  I can see myself at the future being successful in the field of technopreneurship.  I am claiming it because I am doing it now.  I am preparing myself and training myself to become more efficient, competitive and creative technopreneur at the future to come.  I am still lack of experiences which I don’t mind because I believe that determination beats experiences and it has been proven for so many times in the past and also in the present successful businessmen.  I am one of the technopreneurs who is still building up the confidence, I admit that I am still having some nervous when talking to the public but as what our facilitator have said, we must have to make our faces be tough in front of the crowd and throw away all the fears because it will make us mental block and can relay all the thoughts and ideas that we have when pitching our ideas or products.  Technopreneurship is a new world for me; I am a clear newbie in this stage of world of pure business mixed with technological aspects.  Looking back at my past, I don’t really care about what I will become at the future, all I have in my mind is I want to find a good and better job so that I can help my parents in terms of finances.  After all, I realized that it was a typical mind set of everyone who does not realize that if they pursue that thinking then it will not help them to rise up their status in life, which they will help their self stuck in poverty.  I am a thankful man, because I have learned the technopreneurship.  Through this subject, I have learned to sharpen my ideas, I become more meticulous on my ideas that I want to pitch to our facilitator, I am more eager to think of an idea that will improve the lives of every human being in this world.  To my classmates who are also enrolled in this subject, we are all competing to each other so that we will become tougher on our ideas, through this we know that it will help us to make our ideas unique from each other.  For us, technopreneurship is not just a subject in our course to just pass on but this is our gateways to our own success in life.  I have seen the beauty of technopreneurship, it will not only make us successful businessmen at the future but also we have the chance or opportunity to change the world through our unique ideas.  I can see myself every time I close my eyes being a president of my own company at the future.  I can say myself as technopreneur at the future because I am making myself as one of them as of this moment.  Technopreneurship is like a stepping stone to me.  As always the experience of everyone who wants to become successful at the future, the first step is always the hard one.  I want to share my first experience in pitching my idea in front of the class and to the facilitator.  That is so cold at that time, my knees are shaking and even though the air conditioning unit is on I am still sweating and I can’t stop my hands from shaking and I can’t utter properly the words in my mind, I was in the state of mental block and all of my practice means nothing.  I was so disappointed because my actions during that day did not meet my expectation at all; it was foolishness for me.  Due to that, I did not expect anymore that our facilitator Mr. Gamboa will accept my pitch idea.  After I finished my pitching, I know already that I did not do well and my idea will become rejected.  Well after all of the pitching that I have done during that day, I am satisfied to my experiences because it teaches me how to become more effective to the next moment of my pitching.  I believe that the next moment of pitching I will not become nervous anymore because I will teach myself to calm down.  I really believe that my idea was good but the way I pitch it is the only thing that makes it worse because I did not deliver well the key points and also the most important thing which is the value proposal to my facilitator.  I as a technopreneur is a observer one, a researcher.  The fact that I am a clear newbie to this world of technopreneurship I accept the fact that I know nothing, just like my favorite character in the American television series “Game of Thrones” which is Jon Snow “The one who knows nothing”.  But I am willing to know everything about the world of technopreneurship because it catches my interest.  I can say that I am a thinker as a technopreneur, I believe that this will become my weapon to have more ideas which can be commercialize to the market.  As what the old saying says “Think before you act”, this is a reality that every technopreneur should have on their own so that they can fight back to the trends of technopreneurship.  Being an aspiring technopreneur, I guess that I have a lot to learn because I am still at my young age and capable to do more.  All I need is to become more creative and productive, to be always ready and always inspired on everything that I will do.  As a technopreneur, I am not thinking only myself to become a successful because at the first place I am not a selfish guy and I don’t want to be count as one of them.  I as a technopreneur I also want to help my fellow Davaoenyos to have jobs at the future because I also want them to have a good life for their child and child to come.  I believe that seeing a city where everyone is making their way to success all together is a good example for the whole country and also for the world to follow.  I together with the dream of my facilitator which is to make Davao as the center of Information Technology Education in Asia is a wild dream, as I am one of the aspiring technopreneur, I am starting to make a move as early as now so that there will be a lot of opportunities and possibilities that the dream of ours will never just a dream, it will become our goal, a success for everyone; what a sweet success.  There is a question in my mind now which is “how am I going to help Davao City?”  Then the answer follows; technopreneurship.  I want to change the way of thinking of the people here in our country which is to graduate and fly away to a foreign country, make money and be a slave there.  I want other student to realize what I realized after I learned technopreneurship.  I have learned that, we Filipinos are never going to be a real succeful if we ourselves will not help our own city or the much bigger picture which is our country Philippines.  There is a lot of opportunities if we take seriously technopreneurship because it can give jobs to those people in our country who has difficulties on finding jobs.  If that they will come, there will be no more reason to fly away abroad, live there for years and suffer alone while your family is so broken.  Yes we can’t deny that there is a way much bigger offer of salary there in abroad, but how can have it also here I we are not helping our own country.  We must think, I realized these all because of the technopreneurship lectures of our facilitator.  I look up technopreneurship as pathway where everyone are free to enter, no gateway fee pass, all free and all we need to have is a great imagination that can give a very brilliant idea that could change the city, the country and most especially is the whole world.  I am treasuring myself being an aspiring technopreneur right now because I believe that this could transform my life and also to everyone who surrounds me.

3. Would you take the same career path that Steve Jobs took? Why or why not?

Steve Jobs as the founder of apple who eventually got fired and back again is one of the great minds in computer world.  The question is, am I going to take the same path the Steve Jobs took?   Well I would like to take his path during his starting days, wherein he together with his team was too eager to catch the sweet success in business.  I want to follow their determination during those days of building the foundation of their business because as I watched the movie about their lives which is the “Pirates of Silicon Valley”, I saw how they strive for success; they do everything to rise up from nothing.  I am so inspired on the life of Mr. Steve Job on how the way he creates new ideas.  He always thinks outside the box which made him way better that any other competitor of him.  I like to follow the strategy of Mr. Steve Jobs on how they sell their products.  As we can see from the movie of the Pirates of the Silicon Valley, the team f Mr. Steve Jobs always go to any trade fare in their city, introduce to the customers and clients the beauty of their products.  We can see how he attracts people through his persuasive talking, his sales –talk ability always favor them, and it gives them a lot of money.  I want to follow how “risk-taker” he is, but if ever I will have to go under a risk, it should be a calculated risk-taking.  Like him I will make a lot of investors and clients that will provide my future company finances to the projects so that my company will be productive.  Mr. Steve Jobs made a lot of good decisions that contributed to the success of their company.  As an example there is his decision to change his look so that he can fit into the world of business.  Making a good appearance to the customers and clients always results into good.  Mr. Steve Jobs way of having of customer always challenge me.  We can see how he tricks the customers that they can make 50 units at small amount of time, so the customers ordered a lot of units to them.  At first, his team mates were a bit of hesitant to make the deal but they have no choice but to do it because it means money.  The positivity of Mr. Steve Jobs always contributes to their company’s good fortune.  His positivity also attracts his workers to do more.  I will follow the determination and guts of Mr. Steve Jobs on his passion and also his solid ways to reach the top of the business world.  We can see that despite his bad attitude towards his workers the company still grow and become one of the most profitable companies in technological business.  Every man in technological firms know the name Steve Jobs, he is a hero for some of us, a motivation and inspiration.  If I am going to study how Mr. Steve Jobs do or plan his ideas then there will be a lot of things that I will get and things that I can use to make me better and someday become a successful technopreneur.  Every youth of today loves apple products due to their services, services that once started by Mr. Steve Jobs.  There has been a lot of modification happened but we must not forget that this was all started by the brilliant mind of Mr. Steve Jobs.  I am not saying that I will follow all the steps of Mr. Steve Jobs on his way to success, of course I want to be also known as me, as my own ways.  I am not bragging but I want to challenge myself to overpass the legacy of Mr. Steve Jobs.  I want to create more solid and creative ideas to the customers.  I want to make a company that everyone will be happy working.  I want to apply everything that I have learned from studying this technopreneurship.  I want to become the next billionaire.  I would like to follow how Steve Jobs be open on a healthy competition.  We can see from the movie of the Pirates of the Silicon Valley that the company of the Apple is not the creator of the “mouse” which is one of the external parts of the typical computer desktops now.  We all know that it is the invention of the “Xerox” Company.  The IBM Company neglects or ignored this device invented by the Xerox but Mr. Steve Jobs has seen a lot of potential on their invented device.  Mr. Steve Jobs did not accept any failures or foolish projects of his workers, all he needs is something that everyone will buy, something that will make his company continue.  Well we can’t blame Mr. Steve Jobs for being so cruel towards his workers after all.  I will make sure that I will become a successful like Mr. Steve Jobs, I will make the Philippine be one of the top countries that provides a good and efficient Information Technology services and products all over the world.  The Apple Company has been consistent on their products which is to provide a high quality services and always ahead of one step or two from his competitor companies.  I believe that I must build first my ideas so that I will have my own kind of company, a company of innovators.  I just wish and pray that God will shower me more wisdom because I know that he is the only one who can give me the knowledge.  I am a technopreneur and I am claiming it now that I will become a real successful at the future.  When I was just in high school, I have a plan of becoming an entrepreneur because I saw the difference between an entrepreneur and an employee.  Being an employee is too hard and difficult to rise up from poverty and what are worst are their life statuses being an employee does not make them rich or successful; their life has been so stagnant for many years and so late to realize that they do the wrong thing or they have walk into the wrong path of life towards success.  It is a very common scenario to those who are employees but I am not underestimating them all, I am proud of them that they have survived life and works challenges.  However, I believe that if they choose the path of entrepreneurship, they will become the boss of their own business and become a rich person.  There are a lot of entrepreneurs all over the world because they choose to be on top of the business.  It is a wise choice for those who are successful entrepreneurs.  But I am not saying that choosing to be an entrepreneur is an easy way to achieve success in line, many entrepreneurs have failed on their own journey in life due to lack of proper planning and wrong risk-taking.  Being an entrepreneur always come with contingency plan because not all the time that favors will be at your side.  It will also apply to those aspiring technopreneurs, we must always come with a contingency plan so that we can cope up to the new trends in business world.  Let us take the life of Mr. Steve Jobs as an example on our way to success.  Whatever right paths that he did I will follow because I believe that good is good and whatever bad thing he has done well obviously I will never follow.  He has been kicked ones from the Apple Company and been back at the year 1997.  Even though he was kicked out of the company, Mr. Steve Jobs did not surrender.  We aspiring technopreneurs should always remember to never back down, never surrender on life’s challenges.  If I will surrender so easily and early I will earn nothing but dust.  I am already here so there is no stopping now, there is no going back.  I am on my way on carving my name on the hall of fame and I will not let anyone stop me and pull me down, and if ever there is one then I will knock him down.  I will possess an attitude that will never make a customer go away.  I will make everyone remember me as a successful technopreneur, I believe on it and it will happen.  I will never make myself be regretful someday in my life that I did not choose the right thing, doing this whole preparation to become a successful technopreneurs is like now or never.  I believe in the saying that we only have a one shot of success but the technopreneurial world has changed that meaning to me.  In technopreneurship, I have unlimited opportunity to become successful in life, as long as I have my ideas but of course those good ideas then surely I will have a chance to market it to the customers.
